In a bit of deja vu, the BFG Sport Compact Nats Hot Rod finals played out exactly like the run for the money at the WIC race, as Tran outgunned Mortensen at the line and took the money with a slower e.t. Tran pulled a 9.477 at 152 mph while Mortensen notched a 9.469 at 158 mph--a .008 difference. Tran's .518 light was better than Mortensen's .560 by .042. The win went to Tran by a scant .034 seconds.

Jorge Lazcano and the Contreras Auto 300ZX open some eyes with a 7.72 at 180.9 mph to take the number three spot in Pro. How competitive was the Pro Class? Look no further than the list of cars that failed to make the field; Abel Ibarra's K&N RX-7, Jose Torres and the Siguel Racing RX-7 and the K&N R-100 piloted by Efren Vasquez.

The Blast SC400 had a rude awakening in the first round as the car ran an impressive 7.56 but found itself on the short end of the stick as Grant Downing and the Venom Tundra put down a 7.37. It has to be crazy competition when a 7.56 sends you home.
