In Pro FWD everyone's goal is to make the first 7-second run in a front drive, since Nelson Hoyos has long since wrapped up the championship. Qualifying was lackluster but in the first round Lisa Kubo zapped the crowed with an 8.063 at 185 mph. This was the second .06 in the car's short time on the track.
In round two the Saturn Motorsports/APC ION had the wick a little too high as the tires were spinning a lot on Kubo's 8.57-second unopposed run. The final pitted the champion Hoyos against the quick Kubo. However, it was Nelson Hoyos and the Bothwell Motorsports Cavalier that entered the 7-second hunt with the car's best ever 8.264.
In Pro RWD, the final consisted of the two big dogs from Bullish. Ioannou was favored because of his past success against Ara Arslanian and because he ran a 6.88 in the semis. Arslanian left before the tree was activated and George screamed to a 6.831 at 204-plus mph to take the Wally.
With one more race there are still class championships to be decided and plenty of racers facing awe-inspiring e.t. milestones. Next stop: Pomona.
