The VIP or sedan look is a prominent trend in Japan and owner Yuen became enthralled by its wide-body, big-wheel calling card.

The IS300's 2JZ-GE inline six has been breathed upon by a Stage I TBKO turbo package. The kit runs a "conservative" 7 psi because the engine is internally stock and retains the factory 10.5:1 compression ratio.

TBKO owner Jeff Stevens enlisted a Turbonetics T04E turbocharger for this application. The turbo was configured to TBKO specs especially for the IS project.

For pressure relief between shifts, TBKO employs a TurboXS blow-off valve.
Lexus IS300 Fuel System
The fuel system was converted to a return line set-up. Stevens found that consistent pressure is critical. A lack of consistency results in a surge at idle and hiccups during initial throttle application. To increase flow volume, a Walbro high-flow, high-pressure pump, Aeromotive regulator and a Cartech billet FMU were installed.

The VIP look calls for wide-body sheetmetal, aggressive aerodynamics and fat wheels. The biggest tire we could get under our IS300 project car were 225s all around. Yuen now runs 235s in front and mammoth 265s in the rear. On 19-inch wheels.

The wheel of choice is a Japan-spec Yokohama Model 5 with a bronze/gold finish.

The interior has been tuned for comfort. We especially like the carbon-fiber treatment on the center dash and console.
Lexus IS300 Interior Trunk Speakers
Suspension performance can benefit from chassis stiffening. This Cusco triangle brace, mounted in the trunk, connects critical points of the chassis. Yuen also added a Do Luck rear cross member bar and Cusco front and rear strut tower bars.

At 7 psi, the Lexus put down 321.3 whp and 309.5 lb-ft of torque on the stock bottom-end with factory compression of 10.5:1. The next step is a Stage II with more boost.
