This DC2 gets it done when the boost hits but it operates under a sleek, show-inspired camouflage. The Integra's front fascia was converted to JDM Type R specs by California Auto Body (of Las Vegas). They also shaved the door handles, installed a VIS front lip, Seibon carbon-fiber hood and trunk, and JDM Type R doors before applying a retina-popping three-stage PPG Blaze Red Crystal Pearl paint job. The hood, trunk and spoiler were left in their native carbon-fiber finish to drive home the car's JDM appeal.
For the cockpit, John has added S2000 seats wrapped in leather, a Mugen shifter, Type R floormats and a trick Mugen FG360 steering wheel. The gauge cluster is flanked by Auto Meter boost and Sunpro A/F ratio readouts, while the center console is home to an HKS turbo timer and Sony Xplod head unit. The Sony deck features big bass from two 12-inch Kicker Competition woofers powered by a Kenwood Exelon amplifier.
After back-to-back bracket championships in 2000 and 2001 at the Virginia Battle of the Imports, a Street Stock win at the 2006 NHRA Sport Compact race in Vegas with his all-motor creations and Best Appearing Car accolades in the Sport FWD class at the 2007 NHRA Vegas event in his Integra, John has high hopes for his Acura but plans to keep it "street oriented" for the near future.
John's DC2, nicknamed Chennah, is one of those "never knew what hit you" propositions whose show car aura lulls a false security then quickly gives way to the profound realism of 607 whp. One has to wonder how many unsuspecting V-8s John has left in his wake, utterly embarrassed; the number has to be staggering.
