Although this swap is sensible when a larger displacement engine is desired, it is somewhat more difficult than other transplants as the CR-V's larger powertrain does not immediately fit into a Civic. Although the engine is not substantially larger, the transaxle mated to the B20 is too bulky to fit into the smaller engine bay of the compact-sized CRX. In addition, B-series engines can only be mated to transaxles that were built for B-series engines. As most Civics and CRXs were manufactured with D-series engines their transaxles will not bolt onto B-series engines. However, the '89-'91 JDM CRX SiR was equipped with a B16A engine so the transmission is a suitable candidate for the 2.0L B-series powerplant. Jack added this limited-slip differential equipped transaxle after Steve McCluskey upgraded second and third gears to those found in the S80 transmission equipped Integra Type R, which sports more suitable gear ratios of 2.105 and 1.458, respectively.
Modifications to the car's chassis included replacing the stock brake system with Brembo cross-drilled rotors gripped by GS-R calipers mounted to LHT-built custom brackets and a rear-wheel drum-to-disc conversion using '91 CRX Si parts. Braided stainless steel hoses keep the brake pedal feeling firm and the pistons responsive.
Modifications add a fine touch to the non-aging body in the form of a JDM CRX SiR front end, bumper and side moldings, tail lights, rear deck lid spoiler, power folding side mirrors, power windows and locks, as well as keyless door handles. Bride seats, a Mugen FG-360 quick-release steering wheel as well as pedals and a shift knob, a European Integra Type R instrument cluster and Defi gauges make the interior of this CRX exclusive.
