No newcomer to the game, Myles Bautista can go down in the books as one of the godfathers of import racing in the U.S. His '85 CRX pounded the streets and eventually made it to race tracks across the nation. Eventually Myles would retire the CRX and move on to a Prelude-powered Integra and even further to a '95 Civic Coupe. With the Civic and Integra still hitting the track his newest creation is this tube-chassis Integra.
The Integra will be powered by a 2.2-liter Prelude engine in turbocharged trim connected to an OEM manual transmission. The engine will also rely on a Motec M48 engine management system with Myles being the man tuning the masterpiece. Gary Kubo has built a name for himself as a master in the art of Honda engine building. Gary's work could be seen in the Civic of his wife, Lisa Kubo and Christian Rado's alcohol-burning eight-second Integra. Myles has now enlisted the help of Gary to build him an H-series engine capable of withstanding high-boost and maybe even alcohol.
Performance Engineering is finishing up the chassis work while Allen Camero of Raceworks will graft the sheetmetal to the chrome moly and carbon fiber body. The chassis is set up with 28/10.5-15 gumballs in the front to start but will be able to take up to a 30-inch tire in the future. Rear suspension is a trailing arm, straight axle set-up with an adjustable wheelbase.
The debut date of Myles tube chassis Integra is unknown at this time but with some of the best products powering the Acura we are sure to see big numbers out of the front-drive pro stocker which will flex Turbonetics as title sponsor.
