The AEBS' Of Drag Racing
AEBS, which stands for Advanced Engine Breathing Systems, is a tuning shop in the San Diego area of Southern California. Ben Ma, chief proprietor of AEBS has taken to the strip in a big way. This month's "Backpressure" is celebrating his shop's recent successes on the strip.
Winner's Circle
Ben Ma (right) and driver R.J. Simrock in the winner's circle for the first time. Their victory came at the NHRA/Summit Racing Import Nationals-the first ever import race for the NHRA held at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas, just outside of Dallas.
Furious Focus
The AEBS Focus has seen its fortunes come and go. At the NIRA Englishtown event everything came together again and the car is now ahead of where the original owner, Wayne Saunders, left off. Piloted by R.J. Simrock, the rear-drive Focus blasted a personal best of 7.56 @ 174mph to qualify number one. While motoring to the victory in the Pro Import Class, the Focus clicked off a 7.76.
Serious Strip Sentra
We'd like to update you on the performance of the Sentra SE-R we featured in the May issue. But first a little house cleaning. We were under the impression that the Nissan was an AEBS shop car and failed to mention in our article that the car is actually owned by Arnold Tojino. Tojino's SR20DE recently pounded the pavement at the NHRA race in Dallas with a 10.50 at 131 mph.
