Casting Call
There were some early fireworks in Southern California just prior to the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Organizers of the second "The Fast And The Furious" movie held a casting call for custom cars on the corner of Pico and 4th in Santa Monica. The call was the first of two open casting calls (the second held in South Florida) to find vehicles that will be featured in the upcoming "The Fast And The Furious 2."
Technical Coordinator Craig Lieberman, the movie's director, John Singleton (of "Boys In The Hood" and "Menace To Society" fame), and other staffers had their work cut out for them as more than 300 cars showed up and organizers eventually had to turn people away. The time and place of the casting call was kept secret until the day before, when it was released via the Internet.
Shooting is slated to begin in early October and should span about eight months. The release of "The Fast And The Furious 2" is predicted for summer 2004.
