The reason for the delay between Part 1 and Part 2 was due to our test car developing a slipping clutch. ACT came to the rescue with a Supra street clutch designed to handle big power.

In fourth gear, our test Supra hit a max of 123 mph and 17.7 psi of boost pressure. If we wanted to stage the boost in fifth gear to 20 psi, the information provided by the two units tells us that one of the channels would have to be set to 125 mph and 20 psi, since the meter's 16 vehicle speed markers are represented in 12.5 mph increments.

Dyno 1--On a fourth gear run, we compared a normal 16-psi run in auto mode with a Speed Map run. On the Speed Map run, we changed the boost level at 70 and 90 mph. The first level of boost was set at 13 psi, the second at 15 psi and the last at 18 psi. The fluctuations are clear to the naked eye.Dyno 2--To show the difference between the auto and manual modes, we ran the boost controller at 19 psi. The biggest difference is the power gained in the mid-range, due to the manual mode's ability to tune in that region.

Testing the Power Meter for horsepower accuracy, we were able to determine that, at 19 psi of boost in fourth gear, we could generate 377 hp. Once we determined our street horsepower reading, we then strapped the car to AEBS' Dynojet dyno in Miramar, Calif. with the same boost level. The Supra pumped out 380.6 ponies, telling us that there was only a 3 hp difference between the Power Meter and a Dynojet--impressive.
