The Moore Performance set-up incorporates a chrome-moly knuckle which weighs a feathery 6 lbs. per pair. It's also a direct replacement for the factory unit, allowing for the factory control arms to bolt right to the unit.

One of the major differences between the OE knuckle and Moore knuckle is the ball joint location. Since the Moore Performance unit uses a much larger CV, the OE ball joint was relocated 0.25 inches lower than its original location.

Axle shafts were given 33 splines and 1.4375 inches in diameter as compared to the OE 1.125-inch/28-spline design.

The stub ends of both inner and outer joints are also removable if servicing is necessary. Both ends in these shots are stock splines but the newer units incorporate a much bigger size. The outboard stub axles come with a much larger then stock spline. The Moore unit incorporates a 1.750-inch x 40-spline design.

In comparing the OE inboard joints, the noticeable difference is in the OE tripod vs. Moore's crown, which covers a wide surface area throughout the joint in relation to the tripod version. One of the most vulnerable spots on the inner is where the tripod connects to the axle shaft.

The fact that the inner comes apart in separate sections makes inspecting and servicing the unit much easier.

The crown's ability to swivel in any direction is due to the radius cut into it. This is what allows the piece to be used on a front drive.

Not only does Rob Moore do Top Fuel drivelines, he also does custom driveline components. This is a titanium axle for an R/C car. Cool.
