The kit consists of two hard pipes, connector hoses and a bracket for repositioning the window washer bottle.
Mazdaspeed Protege Cold Air Intake
Here we see the unit installed on Project MSP. Note how the system terminates through an existing hole in the chassis (arrow). The filter element is installed from below the car and sits just in front of the inner fender, right in line with a duct in the front bumper.

The stock washer bottle bracket is cut to reposition the bottle under the intake piping.
Mazdaspeed Protege Mass Air Sensor
Here, we see the install in progress. Like most intake installs, the Mass Air Sensor is removed and positioned between the hard pipes. Other items from the OE unit are also transferred to the new set-up.

The pink line toward the bottom of the chart is from our intercooler install. The grouping of lines above it are with the ion Performance intake. The MSP's 2.0-liter, T25-boosted four-cylinder pumped out 164.5, 165.1, 165.0 and 166.2 runs in fairly quick succession. Peak power improvements were in the 5- to 6-hp range, but the intake really earned its keep low in the powerband. From 3500 rpm to 5000 rpm, there's a uniform gain of around 17 whp, with the biggest jump hitting at about 4700 rpm where 24 whp was realized.
