2002 Acura RSX Type-S - The Suspension Smack Down - Project RSX, Part 1

Remove knuckle from MacPherson strut shock.

Note the tie strap holding the brake assembly. Do not allow the brake assembly to hang by the brake line. If you don't have a strap rope or a wire clothes hanger will suffice.

Pull out MacPherson strut assembly.

Before removing perch, etch perch and mounting ring so the shock tower will align properly when it is re-installed.

A spring compressor is used to safely release the tension on the stock spring. The top mounting nut is removed and the tension is let out slowly. Then the perch and coil can be safely removed.

The dust cover is not reused.

The bumpstop is reinstalled. It is not modified before re-installation.

The Eibach coil is set in place.

The proper alignment of the spring perch is checked prior to positioning the strut.

Re-install the strut assembly.

Re-assemble the knuckle to the strut.

Re-install the shock tower bolts.

Re-join steering arm and rack and pinion.

Re-attach brake line and ABS line

We jumped to 18-inch status by tag-teaming Tenzo R Mean 6 wheels finished in a rally look bronze with 215/ZR40-18 rubber from Falken.
